Accessible Guest Suite & Kitchen Remodel for Senior Family Members | Roanoke
Project Description
We were honored to help a family prepare their home for a meaningful event by making it more welcoming and accessible for elderly parents visiting from out of town. This senior-friendly home renovation in Roanoke, VA focused on improving comfort, safety, and usability throughout key areas of the home.
To create a more functional accessible guest suite, we transformed the guest bathroom into a safe, curbless walk-in shower wet room. The space now features slip-resistant tile floors and walls, offering improved traction and a waterproof environment. We also relocated the vanity into the adjacent guest bedroom, allowing for better movement and more open space in the bathroom. In the guest bedroom, we installed a new modern vanity, refreshed the walls, ceiling, and built-in cabinetry with clean, neutral paint for a brighter and more inviting atmosphere.
The kitchen remodel focused on both aesthetic upgrades and practical improvements. We repainted dated kitchen cabinets and walls for a clean, updated look. The cracked kitchen sink was replaced with a stylish drop-in sink and modern faucet. We also installed a new cooktop and range hood, a pull-out trash can cabinet for improved functionality, and swapped an under-counter ice maker for a space-saving mini refrigerator.
This project reflects how thoughtful, aging-in-place remodeling can make a home more inclusive and accommodating for multi-generational families—without sacrificing style or comfort.
