Addition for Veteran | Roanoke VA
Project Description
This project focused on improving accessibility and comfort for a veteran whose existing bedroom and bathroom were too small and difficult to navigate. We constructed an addition to expand the bedroom and provide direct access to an adjoining deck, creating a more functional and open living space.
Inside, we installed new luxury vinyl plank (LVP) flooring, updated trim, added ceiling fans, and integrated a new heating and cooling system. The entire space was freshly painted to give it a clean, modern feel.
The bathroom was fully remodeled to be wheelchair accessible and designed as a wet room. We installed tile flooring and wall finishes to ensure durability and water resistance. The shower area includes both a fixed shower head and a handheld shower head mounted on an adjustable slide bar for flexibility. Additional accessibility features include a fold-down shower seat, strategically placed grab bars, a comfort-height toilet, and a roll-under sink for ease of use.
To ensure safety in the wet environment, we installed water-rated electrical fixtures and protective covers. A wide pocket door was also added to allow for easier wheelchair access and improved maneuverability.
